Transport for children with special needs: how KidCab supports your family

Jul 8, 2025

Families with a child who has a disability face significant challenges. When a specialist facility is far from home, or when journeys are frequent, the back-and-forth between home and school quickly becomes complicated to organise. That is why KidCab offers a transport service for children with special needs.

A transport service for children with special needs, built around each family’s constraints

Every child faces difficulties. But when it comes to mobility for parents of a young person with a disability, many challenges arise. Our driver-companions are there to support families and make daily life easier.

  • Our professionals are trained to accompany children with special needs and to understand what they require.
  • They care about the issues these children face and want to contribute to greater inclusion in society, whatever the disability, whether physical, cognitive or sensory.
  • They build a relationship of trust through their personal qualities: patience, kindness, attentiveness and calm.

A regular service throughout the school year

KidCab runs all year round, providing stability and peace of mind to the families we support every day. Regular as it is, our transport is also adaptable, shaped around your needs so it suits every family.

  • Several pick-up and drop-off addresses can be requested.
  • The driver can wait on site for the duration of an appointment.

What does a KidCab journey look like for a child with special needs?

The driver-companion provides full, door-to-door support to keep every child safe:

  • arrives at the door of the home or the facility where the child is collected;
  • helps the child move around (support with walking, a steadying arm, guidance);
  • takes care of their personal belongings or specific equipment (school bag, wheelchair, and so on);
  • provides an access ramp if needed to get into the vehicle;
  • helps the child settle in comfortably, fasten up correctly, and checks on their wellbeing throughout the journey;
  • on arrival, the driver gives the same attention to helping the child out of the vehicle, then accompanies them right to the door of the school or facility, for support from start to finish.
